Here at Penn Future, we believe that by bring simple changes in our lifestyle, we can bring a greener and better vision for our future.

One of the simple things we can all do to help reduce our carbon emissions is to keep all of our appliances clean and running as efficiently as possible. In fact, this is a very simple practice. We should be taking note of changing things like our filters when it comes to our heating and cooling devices. We should also think about cleaning out our dryer vents and hoses and keeping the coils under our refrigerators clean. This will keep our appliances running for longer and more efficient.

Another thing we can do is to seal up the cracks in our houses - this includes our in windows and doors. We should consider weather stripping, caulking as well as insulation so that we don't have to use as much heating and cooling - hence, less Energy used.

For those with an old refrigerator in the basement that is there to keep for beer and soft drinks, we recommend everyone to unplug it and recycle it. In fact, on average it's costing us about $15 a month just to keep it running. If necessary, we recommend buying a new appliance - one with a high Energy Star rating for efficiently. A new one can potentially help you cut back to just $7 a month along with cutting your contribution to global warming.
