Why we need Green and Sustainable Shopping Bags

Here at Green Endeavors, our goal is to promote the replacement of plastic and paper bags with green, sustainable and reusable sacks. Currently, the American agenda allows for convenience via the disposability over environmental responsibility. 

About fourteen million trees are cut down to supply a year’s worth of just paper grocery bags. These statistics are taken from the American Forest and Paper Association. They are based on the fact that we use 10 billion paper bags each year and one 15 year-old tree can make about 700 bags. 

Although it takes about four times the energy to produce a paper bag as opposed to a disposable plastic bag - it takes thousands of years for plastic bags to decompose. The disposable plastic bags lead to toxins that harm our planet our health to be leached into our environment as they easily recycled.

When it comes to non-woven Polypropylene bags, they can be reused countless more times than both paper and disposable plastic and are nontoxic, washable and lightweight. They are also financially beneficial as well as they pay for themselves, because many stores pay you to carry your own Green Bags.
