Organic and Natural Dyes

Here at Southern Hues, we are here to create beautiful fabrics with farmer grown color - that is, organic and Natural dyes. 

Our products are not only beautiful but they also support the local sustainability and resilience of agricultural systems in our region because of usage of our regionally grown dyes.

For thousands of years before the usage of chemical synthetic dyes, people have created vibrant colors from all natural materials. 

Here we are encourage everyone to do the same because of the environmental and health damages synthetic dyes have produced. 

Our network of local farmers and artisans collect a large range of local species. These would generally include things like black walnuts, wood from the osage orange tree, and numerous flowers. 

We also grown our own plant for a large expanded range of vibrant colors. Currently, we are in the process of working to source an even greater percentage from local small farmers.

Our dyes are All-natural - we recommend it those suffering from sensitive skin, prone to allergies.
