Of course, it is common knowledge that nuts provide lots of protein, fiber and even vitamins and minerals. The fat in nuts are mostly unsaturated - meaning that they contains pretty much no cholesterol. 

However, nuts are a little more then just a Nutritious superfood - they are also super beneficial for your health in the long run. 

Here are just three health facts about nuts that you probably did not know.

According to the  Study of Patients with Parkinson's Disease, nuts are one of the foods associated with the absence of Parkinson's Disease. That is, the vitamin E content in nuts works as an antioxidant and may have prophylactic value against Parkinson's Disease.

Alongside this, researchers for the Harvard School of Public health have also found that women who consume nuts or natural unsalted peanut butter five times per week have significantly lowered their risk for type 2 diabetes. This is in comparison with those who are never or rarely ate nuts or peanut butter.

Also, In an article entitled Progression of Age-Related Macular Degeneration, a study found that nuts have shown to have an affect in reducing the risk of progression to advanced AMD - neovascular disease. Advanced AMD is associated with visual loss.
