Gluten Free Diet and Products

Here at the Summer Day Market, we are a family owned and operated. We have just celebrated our 11th year in business on Marco. 

When it comes to gluten, we have a lot of items that are "Gluten Free" because a lot of our customers have problems digesting it.

But to many of those who have no problem with gluten, they generally have little clue of what it is exactly. 

Gluten is the protein found in wheat, barley, malt, and rye, as well as grain hybrids. Many packaged oats also has gluten - unless stated otherwise.

For the majority of our population, gluten is not a problem. However for anyone who has been diagnosed with Celiac Disease - or celiac sprue, this is a problem. Children or adults with autism or are diagnosed on the autism spectrum are also found to have gluten digestion problems. 

People who are experiencing infertility problems can also benefit from a gluten free diet.

For those who are experiencing chronic fatigue, irritability, behavior changes, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, joint and/or bone pain studies have shown that a gluten free diet - or a diet mostly composed of Gluten Free Foods can be very beneficial as these are symptoms of gluten intolerance. This is because a lot of people are in fact, Celiac without knowing. 

People with dermatitis herpetiformis should also stay away from gluten.
