Reducing packaging and using renewable, biodegradabletrays (made from bamboo pulp) instead of Styrofoam can cut cost of packing, improve shelf-life of food, reduce natural resource depletion, ease pressures on landfills and cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Express Green PAK LLC uses 300 tons of renewable pulp per production cycle, and according to agricultural scientists, is equivalent to removing about 200 tons of CO2 emissions annually from the atmosphere. During pulping, the wheat straw goes through an organic enzymatic process that uses 40 percent less energy and almost 90 percent less water than traditional plastic Styrofoam production.
