We know that a healthy environment and eco system will depend on having a clean Water Supply. Nitrate is one of the most water soluble anions known. It is a widespread contaminant that is present in ground and surface waters worldwide. 

This contamination is usually from fertilizer run-off, agricultural effluent, poorly treated human sewage and industrial waste from processes such as paper and munitions manufacturing.
